Seaport Terminal H Relocation
Location: Miami, FL
Size: 10,000 square feet
Category: Data Center; Office
Overview:
Miami Dade County is currently in the process to demolish and re-build the aging terminal H at the Miami Seaport. The terminal houses critical infrastructure serving the entire port. Secured areas such as the main computer data room and MDPD quarters are essential spaces for the successful day-to-day operation of the Miami Seaport.
Our team was the selected consultant to provide engineering services for the relocation of Terminal H. The project consisted of relocating all the secured areas currently in terminal H to other areas in the port. In order to complete this complex project, we were responsible to perform careful field evaluations of existing conditions to assess the full impact of the desired relocation.
After 9 months of careful design, the project was successfully completed in early 2020. The most critical component of the design was the implementation of the data center relocation, which required careful planning and coordination amongst multiple specialties. We designed a highly complex Computer Room Air Conditioning system and designed the emergency power system accounting for the entire terminal emergency distribution system. A UPS system was designed to achieve uninterrupted power and the low voltage systems were carefully laid out in coordination with the Port’s security & IT department. 3FM issued hundred of pages of engineering specifications to ensure proper adherence to industry standards.
